The Kicking Horse Canyon Park bridge has been completed in 2007 and spans the Kicking Horse Canyon at a height of 92m with a length of over 400m. Civionic engineering has been contracted to instrument the structure for a 2 year period to develop a behavioral model throughout the seasons. All sensors are wireless and battery powered with a service live of 5+ years. Data is collected over the air and will be analyzed in monthly intervals. The bridge sensors will help understanding the movement of the structure in this geotechnically very active zone in British Columbia. The analysis will help to maintain the structure for the years to come and to minimize costing.
